We provide Certified Hand Therapy and Occupational Therapy in the Magic Valley area. A hand therapist works with patients with a variety of upper extremity disorders. For example, patients who may have been affected by an accident or trauma leaving them with wounds, scars, burns, injured tendons or nerves, fractures or even amputation of the finger, hand or arm.

A hand therapist treats patients who are disabled for the affects of repetitive motion disorders-such as tennis elbow or carpal tunnel syndrome. Many patients seeking the care of a hand therapist suffer from such chronic problems as arthritis and neurological conditions.

The therapist's high degree of specialization requires continuing education and, most often, advanced certification. This training enables the hand therapist to more effectively work with patients, hastening their return to a productive lifestyle.
To obtain the CHT credential, a hand therapist must practice as an OT for a minimum of five years, accumulating at least 4,000 hours of hand and upper extremity experience. Hand therapists must pass a rigorous certification examination to demonstrate their competency in the practice of hand therapy.
